Pro-RUWA offers a course “GIS and remote sensing application in agricultural sciences for beginners”. This course aims to enhance basic knowledge and skills in GIS and remote sensing, such as create a simple map, georeferencing, extract information from Google Earth Pro, analyse and collect spatial data for Agricultural sciences.

Date: 20-24 January 2024, from 9:00 – 16:00 Burkina Faso time (including practical and self-learning) – lunch break between 12:00-13:00

Form: The venue will be in Ouagadougou (exact location will be informed), Burkina Faso, possible to learn online via DIGI FACE with 2 compulsory meetings via Zoom (one hour). Learning materials can access via DIGI FACE using Moodle platform. E-learning in French is available via DIGI FACE.

Number of spaces: 15 in presence, 10 online

Finance: For Pro-RUWA scholars and students + staffs from Dedougou University, the project covers all of your travel expenses including a round-trip ECONOMY airplane ticket (only for Pro-RUWA scholars outside of Burkina Faso) or bus ticket (for members of Dedougou university), local transport, hotel costs, and food. Non Pro-RUWA scholars attend in presence in Ouagadougou or online free of charge.

Requirement: Master, PhD students, and Postdoc, lecturers working with a topic of agriculture or relevant from African Excellence Centers, especially from University of Dedougou (Burkina Faso), University of Abomey Calavi (Benin), and University of Abdou Moumouni de Niamey (Niger). The course will be in English (materials in French is available on request). External applications will be accepted if the space is available.
